Inside Our hearts preview

This weekend us graduate students at Newhouse have an amazing opportunity to attend the Fall Workshop, which promises to be an intense 3 days of non-stop shooting, editing, tearing apart, shooting, and editing some more. Sounds like fun doesn’t it? This will be really similar to my Missouri Photo Workshop experience, but instead of a week to produce one stills piece, we have 3 days to shoot, edit, and produce a multimedia piece along with a picture story. I’m nervous and excited at the same time.

My story revolves around the Carter family, a typical American nuclear family but with a twist. Both parents are handicapped, mother Pam has cerebral palsy, and the father, Mark, was in a major car accident when he was 17, and now talks with a lisp and has some trouble walking. But through their determination and strong will, they are raising a son, Angelo who is a perfectly healthy and hyper energetic 6 year old. Here are just a few pics from my few weeks with them, and in about 1 week, the website should go live with all new stories from Auburn, NY.
