It’s been a few days since the Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal (Guru) has passed away. And while I never met the man, or even saw him perform, I’ve been a huge fan of Guru and DJ Premier since Daily Operation and onward. And it was through Guru’s solo projects (Jazzmatazz) that pioneered the Jazz and Hip Hop fusion that The Roots would go on to make popular. Their Full Clip: A Decade of Gang Starr could quite possibly be the best compilation album of one of hip hop’s greatest groups. Hip Hop will never be the same without you Guru… RIP, Gang Starr Forever.
